Glyndwr Plants was established on a rented site in the village of Llangwm in North Wales by husband and wife team John and Myfanwy Stubbs. We purchased our present three and a half-acre site at Tafarn Bric outside the town of Corwen on the Chester road in 1992.Tafarn Bric has a long history of trading, some rather novel. The original house was an unlicensed tavern during the days when drovers moved cattle and sheep from North Wales through to the south of England. Bric is a derivation of the Welsh word ‘Pric’ or stick. These sticks were purchased and notched, indicating how much the stick was worth. These sticks were then exchanged for ale or porter. The sale of ale act was therefore not broken. We hasten to add that we no longer carry on this tradition!
We grow and sell hardy plants, (nearly all grown on our own site) for all types of gardens and gardeners, so whether you are a novice or connoisseur, we are sure that we have something for you and a visit to the nursery would be both enjoyable and rewarding.
Many of our customers return year after year to browse the new additions to our trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, or to discover what’s new for their hanging baskets and patio tubs. Our motto is: Quality Plants with Quality Service. We are constantly improving the quality of our plants, we want to see happy customers returning year after year because the plants they bought from us have proved to be successful and have given them enjoyment.
We are available at all times to give advice thus enabling our customers to select the right plant for their particular garden.
